Life… Reflections On The Past, Present, And Future
(Hmmm.. can one even “reflect” on the future?)
My meanderings about living life and having lived life. This is a compendium of having been there, done that, and got the T-shirt to show for it.
The significance of the rock face graphic in this header? A reminder in my own mind that my writings should be carved in stone for the ages. (Just don’t take everything I say for granite.)
Today’s Pontificate – Lock & load! That title above raise an eyebrow? Remember my previous post about guys swimming naked as a phys-ed requirement in the Chicago Public Schools (HERE)? Here’s another culture shock absurdity (by our modern scruples) to dazzle the senses and leave you in wonderment and awe.
Today’s Pontificate – Oh, you betcha, this is gonna be one of the craziest things you’ve heard of in a long time. But it’s true because I lived it… as did many others from back in the day. Submitted for your approval, a time long, long ago.. and not so far away. That signpost up ahead is your next stop…………
Today’s Pontificate – For years I have been kinda perplexed with this idea that the goal in life is the pursuit of “living the good life”. Usually it’s attached to some desire for retirement. I am not sure how that is defined, to be quite honest.
Today’s Pontificate – I always wonder who decides if a person is “hard working” or not. Or who determines if a job that falls into the category of “an honest day’s work”. More to the point, have I had any jobs like that so I can judge others who do not?
Today’s Pontificate – There I was, standing face-to-face with a mighty behemoth made for war against America. All alone against the unknown threat that might be hiding in it’s belly.. likely waiting for the right time to disgorge its minions to spread Communist domination. I raised my fist……………
Today’s Pontificate – No.. this isn’t a post about the guy pictured above. Well, it is a bit of an “in memorium”, but his character persona was his charisma. Yet it does illustrate to some degree how some people can manage to find loyal followers based on a personal “charisma” in delivering particular message… at the right time.
Today’s Pontificate – Like Joni Mitchell sang, “you don’t know what you got till it’s gone”. My parents’ generation carried with it a culture of family inclusion and friendships and simply getting together on a regular basis to give their own lives an incentive for what was important to them. I witnessed and experienced a piece of that.
Today’s Pontificate – It suddenly dawned on me the other day as I caught myself passing some thoughts through my mind that are generally reserved for those older than me (or so I thought).
Today’s Pontificate – Hmm… let’s see.. professional demonstrator, huh. (Just how the hell are they recruiting people to do that?) Yeah, I know.. it’s a bit old school newspaper job searching.
